What are the reasons we celebrate? There is no specific reason why people celebrate.  Depending on the beliefs, cultures, age, family background everyone will give many reasons to celebrate.  This unit has important ATLs that we are trying to develop.  Social  They worked in groups and learned how to communicate and build social connections with each other. They learned to respect different perspectives and used context and roles using dialogues.  Communication Role-play enhances language skills by using dialogue and vocabulary relevant to the role that they are portraying. It is especially beneficial for English Language Learners. Through role play we were able to target these skills while exploring the Line of Inquiry on  Reasons for celebration. Beliefs  There are many things that we believe in and think that exist or are true.  These things shape and mold us into who we are.  The word "BELIEF" is a  big idea and  is  not easy to explain to the preschoolers.  So, I started of with a 'word bank'.  They threw out words or ideas that they can make, connect or relate with from the word BELIEFS. lie, believe, leaf, tree, bell, bees...  Then, the word belief was used in a sentence with context clues to help them understand.  We realize that the word BELIEVE was the closest word related to it.  We came up with a class definition.  "Beliefs are ideas or things we believe in.  It is what  we think is real  or it is because we see it. Our beliefs changes and it may not be the same with everyone's." Cause and Effect Every problem has a solution and there can be many solutions to a problem.  Every solution has a consequence and it might be a positive or a negative one.  Because of this, It is important for the preschoolers to understand: How our character and personality affect the choices we make. OR  How our character and personality may be affected by the choices we make. This week, the preschoolers have been exposed to many different situations that show them the concept of cause and effect.  They are beginning to understand the idea that ' CAUSE ' is the REASON why something happened and that  EFFECT  is the ' RESULT' of what happened.    They did a sorting activity wherein they decided if the photo is a cause, or, effect.  Once they have decided, they needed to provide a reason or a result. You play together and laugh together. They accept you for who you are. Someone who makes you smile when you are sad and helps you when you when other people are not nice to you.  Romantic People you love and care for so much and wants the best for the other person.
