Going Further with our Learning

When they worked, they really worked. When they played, they really played!  - Dr. Seuss - This quote from Dr. Seuss is the perfect statement to describe what the Preschoolers have accomplished in their (not so) mini-exhibition. The Preschoolers ended the unit with an amazing performance task. They filled the school's hallways with colorful works which reflect their understanding of the unit on 'Who We Are'.  This is a big challenge for the preschoolers as they stepped in to the first level in their Lower Primary year and they are slowly starting to live and breathe the IB PYP Program.  In this exhibition, the preschoolers shared to the school community their understanding of the Inquiry Cycle. From Tuning In until Taking Action.  They have implemented student's agencies by showing ownership of their own learning and the action that comes from that learning.      They also showed the connection of the unit to Literacy, Numeracy and Arts....

Can You Imagine That?

Dressing up as a Community Helper ended our first unit on the Transdiciplinary Theme, How We Organise Ourselves.  One intense afternoon on the 20th of October, the Preschoolers became different  characters and shared their stories during the Publishing Party.  They prepared and anticipated the day that they will share their roles and responsibilities and become the person that they dream of becoming.     In front of other students, teachers and parents, they proudly shared their stories as they hid their nervousness with those sweaty and shaky hands. Questions were asked, but the Preschoolers confidently answered them.    Now, meet our future Community Helpers who will become MOVERS and CHANGERS in the world! Shinkansen Train Driver "I love trains."  Illustrator "I want to create books." Police Officer "I want to catch bad guys." Doctor (Dermatologist) "I want to work in a hospital like my dad and mom."   Doctor   "I want...

Our Own Perky Preschool Community

In the Unit of Inquiry,   It started with a blank space. They thought,   "There's a lot of things to be done!" "It looked empty, sad and quiet."   Then, they started talking.    They worked hard.   They knew their ROLES. They did their RESPONSIBILITIES. Together, they worked and created a COMMUNITY. A place where they have everything they need.  A place where everything and everyone is connected.  A place where everyone is happy. A place where there is 'US'. They called it,  'The Perky Preschool Community'   For Literacy Story Element :  The Character From the story Bye-Bye Big Bad Bullybug, the Preschoolers created their own version of the Bullybug. This is a way to introduce to the preschoolers what a character is.   The illustrations will then be used to create a fictional story.
