FAMILY SHIELD

Every member must SHIELD and PROTECT the family. And as the child grows, certain values and beliefs within the family are what they use as an anchor in the process of development and change.    To gain more conceptual understanding of their personal history, they created a family shield also known as a "Coat of Arms" in collaboration with Art. They thought about a symbol... an animal... a word... an activity  to represent their family.  .  Each child worked carefully, planning the colors, words and figures which showed their pride in their work that would represent their own family. THEN and NOW Tamaki "The shape of the face looks the same."   Ciel Not one person guessed Ciel.  Well, Ciel didn't even recognize his own photo!  Koh "He still looks the same."  Daisy "Her smile and...

Student Led Conference

Student Led Conference: Empowerment and Ownership The preschoolers becoming in charge is a way to create opportunities for reflection, engagement and agency.  As we were getting ready for the Student Led Conference, the preschoolers planned with Ms. Faye the work samples, activities and the areas that they wanted to share to their parents.    They practiced together with their friends on how to go through the conference.    During the Student Led Conference, they shared their portfolio, which they organized in their UOI notebook and in Seesaw.  They shared their strengths, weakness and what their learning goals are. They communicated their progress and learning processes to their parents.  They challenged each other.  They taught them different strategies they used at school which may be very different on how the parents learned it before.  What made it really special was that they shared the night with their parents in celebration of the won...
