Perky Preschool

There are many ways for children to express themselves. Ways to show their creativity and make their imaginations come alive.  This week, the Preschoolers looked back at the whole school year in Preschool.  We have listed down all the different events we have celebrated throughout the year at DSKI. Enrolment Party, Oktoberfest, St. Martin, St. Nicolaus, Halloween Party, Christmas,  Easter, Book and Culture Week, STEM Week, Autumn and Spring Break, and more! Some of these celebrations are also practiced in their own family. These are traditions that have been passed on from one family to the next.  Why are these traditions or celebrations important?  What are ways people express the importance of these traditions and celebrations?  1. Through Music and Movements Music is important in every celebration. Some people may find it difficult to express their emotions verbally. They use music and movement to express their feelings of happiness, excitement...

  It's the most wonderful time of the year..... A week filled with merriment and excitement!  A time for celebration!  The preschoolers have finished the Advent Calendar and everyone was surprised to see Santa inside our room one afternoon.  He brought presents for the preschoolers!  ho ho ho ho... They were all on the 'nice list' ,but, Ms. Faye!  "hu hu hu hu", Ms. Faye Last day before the holidays, the students spent the morning listening, singing and dancing to different Christmas songs. They shared presents and ate treats too. The classroom was filled with laughter and beautiful chaos.  The students had a wonderful celebration with their friends, teachers and other DSKI students.    and... of course, there will always be a POPCORN Party!  The class also set up a table for the Christmas Market. They sold the 2023 Calendar with their beautiful artworks attached to it. Approximately 40 calendars were made by the students and almost ever...

June 15, 2022 Today marks the end of the Perky Preschool Class 2021 - 2022!  What a roller coaster ride it has been! It was a year filled with sighs, cries,  complains,  'pampararampam - pampam',  but above all, singing, laughter, hugs, love, and happiness. It was the year we celebrated the sixes' proved to the whole DSKI community that as what Dr. Seuss' said, "a person's a person no matter how small." Together, their voices were heard. Together, they grew. Together, they shone. Together,  they are capable of achieving more than what they are expected to do. And with that, Ms. Faye's Perky Preschool shares with you their Taking Action video on What a Wonderful World. Amidst the chaos in this world, within ourselves, it is still a wonderful world! UNIT OF INQUIRY  Who We Are Choices As preschoolers continue to inquire about the unit, they ask people around to FIND OUT the answers to their wonderings. Questions they asked are as follows: What is a PROBLEM? What are CONSEQUENCES? Why do we need to make good choices? Why do people make poor choices? What will happen if we continue to do poor choices?       The responses were written here. Next week, the Perky Preschoolers will talk about the responses and will go deeper in their understanding of the value of choices in one's self. UNIT How do we express ourselves ARTS  (LINES and COLORS) How do we express ourselves through visual arts? Perky Preschoolers started exploring lines and colours through water color painting. Using the crayon resist technique, they express themselves and created beautiful and colourful designs.         Please see their finished art works to be posted on their SEESAW.
