Step Inside

Understanding is more than just having the knowledge of the facts and information about a concept.
It is far more deeper than that. It is stepping into the idea and be able to see, feel, ask, and know more about it.

Finding out more about roles and responsibilities of the members in the school community, they continued with their interview and conversations with the people in the school.

They are beginning to understand that everyone in the school community are working together towards the same goal and all for the students.

Using the Visible Thinking Routine, Step Inside, they stepped inside the shoes of the 4 familiar community helpers: doctors, teacher, policeman, and fireman.

What do these people see?
What do these people think?
What questions do they ask?
What are the feelings they have?

This exercise gave the preschoolers an opportunity to understand and share their knowledge about these members of the community.

They started their initial research to validate their prior knowledge.
They used unit books to look at photos or information about what they do, what they wear, what tools they, and the transportation they use.

FIELD TRIP
The trip to Rokko Island Fire Station was an amazing experience to the preschoolers.

They went in the fire truck.

Used the hose (with no water this time)

Carried the 30 kilos long hose inside the bag!
They realized that firemen have to be strong (like ULTRAMAN) to be able to carry those heavy hose!

They listened carefully and asked wonderful questions to the firemen. It was a wonderful day to experience and step in to the day of these people who helped us in a huge way.

I wonder who among these preschoolers would become our future firefighters!

Night of the Student Led Conference

Preschoolers practice for their upcoming Student Led Conference (SLC) by engaging in mock sessions with peers and teachers. These practices help the students build confidence as they learn to talk about their artwork, classroom routines, and personal growth.  Using the checklist prompted by visuals like portfolios and photo displays, preschoolers explain their learning journey in simple, meaningful ways. Practicing ahead of the actual conference allows them to feel prepared and proud to share with their families.  It fosters communication skills, independence, and a strong sense of ownership over their learning — all foundational for future academic and social success. During the actual Student Led Conference, preschoolers experienced a range of emotions. Some felt nervous facing their parents, while others were visibly tired or overwhelmed by the attention.  A few needed gentle support to stay engaged. On the other hand, many confidently shared their work, explained clas...

Meet the Animals

Students have been actively engaged in preparing for our upcoming Animal Exhibit, showcasing their learning through research, creativity, and collaboration. Each student selected an animal of interest, explored its habitat, diet, and unique adaptations, and created a visual display to share their findings. This week the preschoolers worked in teams to group animals according to their natural habitats—such as grassland, fresh water, polar region, ocean, and forest.  Together, they collaborated to research the features and designed a small-scale habitat that reflect the unique features of each ecosystem. This group project fostered teamwork, problem-solving, and creativity as students and teachers combined their knowledge and ideas to create cohesive, informative, and visually engaging designs.  The final displays beautifully showcase both the diversity of animal life and the power of collaboration. As part of the preparation, preschoolers will practice presentation skills and t...
