A place and time

We can steer ourselves to the direction we choose,
It works,
if it's the right place,
and
the right time.

- Ms. Faye -

We explored the world together in the Preschool class!

We traveled to different places - cities, countries, continents and oceans in Google Earth. We enjoyed the ride from these places and ended up in our school DSK International.

Intelligent conversations emerged from this activity and questions just kept on coming!

"Why are the countries separated? Why can't it only be one big country?"
"How long it will take us to come to Japan if we ride a boat from Germany?"
"Why do people travel?"
"What happens, when the sun is on the other side of the earth?"

And I am proud to say that, at that moment, the Preschoolers' INQUIRY begins.

From Google Earth, we moved on to familiarizing ourselves and discovering the differences and similarities between a GLOBE and MAP.

I was surprised that some of the students know the direction where North, East, West, and South are more than I do!

They also worked on a mapping activity and they worked in pairs or trios and  located the countries, where they, mom and dad came from.

They noticed that there are big 'chunks' or part of lands on the map and we called them CONTINENTS.

Aside from their nationality, they can also identified from the continents they belong. Like: Europeans, Americans, Asians.

They named the 7 continents in the world.
Asia, Africa, North America, South America, Europe, Antartica, and Australia.

Australia is the only COUNTRY and a CONTINENT!

We saw many different opportunities and experiences in the preschool class, it was amazing that they never get tired and continuously exhibit enthusiasm and excitement to learn new things.

STORIES TO TELL

It was not ordinary to see much snow in Kobe!
We went out and enjoyed the snow that gathered in the school campus.

Of course they tried making a snowman!

They truly had a lot of fun...

Making fun of Ms. Faye!!

Night of the Student Led Conference

Preschoolers practice for their upcoming Student Led Conference (SLC) by engaging in mock sessions with peers and teachers. These practices help the students build confidence as they learn to talk about their artwork, classroom routines, and personal growth.  Using the checklist prompted by visuals like portfolios and photo displays, preschoolers explain their learning journey in simple, meaningful ways. Practicing ahead of the actual conference allows them to feel prepared and proud to share with their families.  It fosters communication skills, independence, and a strong sense of ownership over their learning — all foundational for future academic and social success. During the actual Student Led Conference, preschoolers experienced a range of emotions. Some felt nervous facing their parents, while others were visibly tired or overwhelmed by the attention.  A few needed gentle support to stay engaged. On the other hand, many confidently shared their work, explained clas...

Have an amazing summer break to all!

A Day with Nature

From the moment we arrived at Rokkosan Pasteur, excitement was in the air.   The weather was perfect, the animals were curious, and of course the preschoolers couldn’t wait to explore! The highlight of the day? Meeting the  kids —not the classmates, but the adorable baby goats! The students were able to  feed, pet, and even cuddle the goats, horses, sheep . They were gentle and playful. Some preschoolers were a bit hesitant at first, but by the end of the visit, everyone was laughing and eagerly reaching out to connect with the animals. But this trip was about more than just the fun experience. The goal is to extend their learning about  animal care, natural habitat, and the effect of human to other iving things.  These experiences and observing how animals interact in a natural environment were learning in its most genuine form—engaging, memorable, and will have a long-lasting impact on their lives.    As the day came to an end, tired but happy p...
