PRESCHOOLERS Travel Around The World

The preschoolers started looking at their family histories and created their own  'Family Tree'.  This activity enables the preschoolers to know the members of their extended family, this is important in gaining a deeper understanding of who they are.  They also had a 'Mapping Activity' wherein t hey looked at maps to guide their inquiry on the sense of the world. This activity helps them perceive themselves as to where they are in place and time.    Through this mapping activity, they discovered: The places / countries they have been to The country/ies where their parents and grandparents are from The location of their country and the continent where it belongs to Understand how and why people go to different places  Preschoolers will continue digging deeper at their family histories when we come back after the Golden Week!

PRESCHOOLERS Collect Memories

An exciting and fun-filled week of 'FINDING OUT' about 'SELF'. Some  preschoolers have shared important memories that they would like to preserve inside their Time Capsule.    They also completed their Time Capsule Personal Information that they will include inside their box. As we go through the unit, we pause and reflect on where we are at our learning and understanding of the unit.  The preschoolers answered the question:  What have you discovered about yourself while finding out about your personal histories?  NUMERACY For Numeracy, the Preschoolers looked at objects and compared things in terms weights. They compared and guessed which one they thought was heavier or lighter. Then, they explored and used the scale to find out if the different objects were heavier, lighter or equal.    Next week, Preschoolers will inquire about their own Family Histories and create a Family Tree.

PRESCHOOLERS Ask BIG and SMALL Questions

In this unit on Where We are in Place and Time, the preschoolers continue to develop ATL skills as THINKERS and RESEARCHERS.  A role of a researcher is to Ask Questions .  Creating and asking questions help the preschoolers increase understanding as they gain more information and knowledge from others. The preschoolers INTERVIEWED their classmates about the topic on 'myself'. They came up with their own set of questions to help them gain a deeper understanding of themselves and compare how their personal histories or experiences are either the same or different to others.  To help them develop the act of creating good questions, we did an exercise on the process of creating BIG and SMALL questions.  They each came up with their own questions and interviewed everyone in the class.      They also shared their own'See How I Grew' sheet. This is an initial task to help the preschoolers understand how to create a TIMELINE.    As they continue to develop, practice respons

PRESCHOOLERS Visit the Memory Lane

This week, the Preschoolers have been Tuning In with our unit on Personal Histories . We unlocked words in our central idea and talked about their understanding and connections with the words.  To find our what they already know about the unit and their personal history, preschoolers played the 'Roll a Memory' game.  They had so much fun sharing about their own stories and experiences to the class. Wonderings, the most important part of the Tuning In which will guide the inquiry! The preschoolers posted the questions that they are wondering about.  And check out the Perky Preschool's Seesaw account to look at the initial timeline they created! Next week, Preschoolers will start Finding Out more about the Unit.
