First Week in Preschool

It has been an amazing week for the Perky Preschoolers!

CLASS ROUTINES:
We are getting used with our class routines:
  • arrival and dismissal
  • calendar and schedules
  • pushing chairs in
  • lining up (one meter apart)
  • toilet and water break
  • one person talking
  • and of course STAYING SAFE (distance and mask)
  • keeping hands to ourselves

LITERACY
We have been reviewing and mastering the letter names and sounds in the alphabet. They have also been exercising their fine motor skills through writing, cutting, and pasting.

NUMERACY
The students have explored numbers using the ten frames and cubes.
They showed numbers given to them by putting the cubes in each frame. Then, they were able to show the numbers and wrote the corresponding numerals beside it independently.

This task helps them understand the idea that numbers correspond to specific quantities.

Have a good weekend and see you all at the Parents Night!

Working Together

TAKING ACTION The students are keeping in mind the importance of plants to all living things.  Plants - being the ONLY one that can make its own food, and Plants - being the ONLY one that gives us the air or oxygen to live. We have to do something to preserve the plants!   They started bringing all sorts of seeds to plant at school.  To watermelon seeds, onion stalks, flowers, grapes..  They chose a spot where the plants can get sunshine.  They dug the soil. Put in the seeds. And watered them. They did everything that the plants need in order to grow.    Students will take turns watering the plants daily.  Hopefully these tiny seeds will show us some sprouts before the end of the school year in Preschool.    HOW WE EXPRESS OURSELVES For the unit on How we express ourselves, the preschoolers used their imagination to create different art work on the ipad.  They chose their own  subject and used the different tools on the drawing...

First Week in Preschool

The preschoolers started the school year with the Enrolment Party.  The students together with their parents come to school all dressed-up and ready to attend their frist day in Primary School.  They were entertained by the frist graders who did the short play about the School cone. Afterwhich, they received their school cone from the teacher. Together, the new preschoolers and Ms. Faye went to the vist their classroom and enjoyed their first read-a-loud!  They did their first day of school work! I WONDER..... Since the start of the all inquiry is asking questions,  we started the unit on 'How we organize ourselves' with a lot of provocations.  Through these provocations, the preschoolers started forming questions and we gathered them and added in our wonder wall.  "Why do policeman and fire fighters and ambulance work together eventhough they have their orn jobs? " "Why do kids have to go to school? " " Why do paople make books? " " As good ...

Our Family

Community is a place where people live together.  Our Family Our School Our Community The preschoolers identified themselves as an important member or these groups.  Roles are parts that everyone play. We have the Superheroes like Batman, Spiderman and other characters in movies.  But what are the things that they do? Those are their responsibilities. Just like us, we all have our responsibilities.  The Family Family is the smallest group in a community.  Some families are big. Some families are small. But they live together in the same house and do things together and take care of each other.   Using their puppets the preschoolers imagined and created a story of things that they did as a family. They had so much fun presenting in the class, changing their voices creating background sounds and simply telling their stories! We also played the Yes, No, Maybe corners where the students decided if they agreed or disagreed with the questions given to them about ...
