Going Further with our Learning

 When they worked,
they really worked.
When they played,
they really played!
- Dr. Seuss -

This quote from Dr. Seuss is the perfect statement to describe what the Preschoolers have accomplished in their (not so) mini-exhibition.

The Preschoolers ended the unit with an amazing performance task.
They filled the school's hallways with colorful works which reflect their understanding of the unit on 'Who We Are'.

This is a big challenge for the preschoolers as they stepped in to the first level in their Lower Primary year and they are slowly starting to live and breathe the IB PYP Program.

In this exhibition, the preschoolers shared to the school community their understanding of the Inquiry Cycle. From Tuning In until Taking Action.

They have implemented student's agencies by showing ownership of their own learning and the action that comes from that learning.

They also showed the connection of the unit to Literacy, Numeracy and Arts.

In writing, they created their own fictional character and wrote a short story about it.
The theme of their stories evolved around friendship, family and acquaintances.

The Action Wall / Thought - Full Jar
One of the main highlights in the exhibition.

During the winter break, the preschoolers initiated an action and invited their family members to sit down and plan an activity together.
In this wall, students and parents will also enjoy reading and discovering how families have different personalities and choices.

Above all, this wall is a proof that the school and home have a good relationship and are working together to support DSKI students' learning.

Everyone is welcome to pick one paper inside the 'Thought-Full" Jar and read a meaningful affirmation from the preschoolers. The purpose of this jar is to make everyone feel special and happy.

They presented to their parents their (not so) mini exhibition and came back to the classroom proud and happy!

Night of the Student Led Conference

Preschoolers practice for their upcoming Student Led Conference (SLC) by engaging in mock sessions with peers and teachers. These practices help the students build confidence as they learn to talk about their artwork, classroom routines, and personal growth.  Using the checklist prompted by visuals like portfolios and photo displays, preschoolers explain their learning journey in simple, meaningful ways. Practicing ahead of the actual conference allows them to feel prepared and proud to share with their families.  It fosters communication skills, independence, and a strong sense of ownership over their learning — all foundational for future academic and social success. During the actual Student Led Conference, preschoolers experienced a range of emotions. Some felt nervous facing their parents, while others were visibly tired or overwhelmed by the attention.  A few needed gentle support to stay engaged. On the other hand, many confidently shared their work, explained clas...

Summer

Have an amazing summer break to all!

A Day with Nature

From the moment we arrived at Rokkosan Pasteur, excitement was in the air.   The weather was perfect, the animals were curious, and of course the preschoolers couldn’t wait to explore! The highlight of the day? Meeting the  kids —not the classmates, but the adorable baby goats! The students were able to  feed, pet, and even cuddle the goats, horses, sheep . They were gentle and playful. Some preschoolers were a bit hesitant at first, but by the end of the visit, everyone was laughing and eagerly reaching out to connect with the animals. But this trip was about more than just the fun experience. The goal is to extend their learning about  animal care, natural habitat, and the effect of human to other iving things.  These experiences and observing how animals interact in a natural environment were learning in its most genuine form—engaging, memorable, and will have a long-lasting impact on their lives.    As the day came to an end, tired but happy p...
