Preschool Sleepover

We ended the week with one of the most important events in preschool. They had a sleepover and truly had a meaningful and memorable experience!   This night served several important developmental and emotional purposes: Builds Independence Spending a night away from home helps children practice being independent in a safe and familiar environment. It boosts their confidence and helps them feel capable of managing themselves without parents for a short time. Strengthens Social Bonds A sleepover allows children to bond more deeply with their classmates and teachers. These shared experiences can strengthen friendships and build a sense of community within the classroom. Teaches Responsibility Children learn to pack their belongings, follow routines, and take care of their personal needs with gentle guidance, all of which are foundational life skills. Strengthens Relationships Socially, the sleepover strengthens friendships and creates shared memories that help children feel conne...

Entering the world of imagination

Children use imagination to write poems and create artworks in wonderfully instinctive and unfiltered ways.  They are not constrained by thinking or grammar rules and truly believe simple things in life.  This kind of imaginative freedom allows them to create words and images that we might not even consider. They use personal experience and reimagine things. They write freely without filter and   mix real life with fantasy to create rich, expressive writing. They can use this form of writing to develop self-confidence and connections with themselves and others.  In Artwork, they use their creative imagination to create symbolic representation that we, as adults, could never have imagined.  Children represent the world how they feel it, not just how they see it.  Their artworks become a portal to an entirely new worlds. In this unit on  how we express ourselves,  preschoolers will be encouraged to use: Open-ended materials (like...

A Learning Adventure

A Learning Adventure Preschools are vibrant spaces full of curiosity, imagination, and discovery.  When these early learning environments are connected with real-world research, especially involving animals, children gain powerful hands-on experiences that support their development across multiple areas.  It was inspiring to witness how the preschoolers collaborated with each other about a specific animal group. This group work not only enriched the children’s learning but also contributed to their understanding. Participating in research strengthens many core developmental skills in preschoolers. They learn to focus and attention to detail, find information, and record either in words, drawing or storytelling which build early literacy and communication skills.  Working in groups fosters cooperation and problem-solving.  Most importantly, these experiences nurture empathy and respect for living creatures, promoting environmental awareness from an early age. As they...

Book -Talks

Just what Neil Gaiman's quote says, "Books make great gifts because they have the WHOLE WORLD inside of them" ,  we schemed and scanned several unit books this week.  This then made the preschoolers think and ask questions about life and living things around them.    Once they have understood the clear difference between living things and nonliving things, we now focused on what life around us looks like.  Together with a partner, they did a BOOK TALK.  Together, they chose one book and sat down next to each other. They opened the book and started talking about what they saw and read. They reflected, wrote down new information they learned, and questions about the book.  Book Talk help students develop critical thinking skills by encouraging them as they analyze the information, evaluate, reason out, and form their own opinions about a topic.  This activity put simply, also helps develop student's social skills and communication skills. They learn...
