This week Preschoolers inquired about one of the most important living things

THE PLANTS

Plants are living things that grow on soil and turns the light from the sun into food. It makes its own food in the process called PHOTOSYNTHESIS.

Characteristics of Plants

they need water
the only living thing that can make its own food
it gives energy to other living things
gives fresh air (oxygen)
without plants other living things will die
it came from seeds

  • leaves - make the food for the plant from the carbon dioxide, sunlight, air and water
  • fruits - protects the seeds
  • flowers - helps in reproduction

THE ARTSY ANIMALS

In art, the preschoolers created a sculpture of the animal they will present on the exhibit

Using paper clay, they carefully created a 3D shaped model.

Then they painted it to make it look realistic!

They can't wait for you all to see their Animal Exhibit on the 29th of May!

Night of the Student Led Conference

Preschoolers practice for their upcoming Student Led Conference (SLC) by engaging in mock sessions with peers and teachers. These practices help the students build confidence as they learn to talk about their artwork, classroom routines, and personal growth.  Using the checklist prompted by visuals like portfolios and photo displays, preschoolers explain their learning journey in simple, meaningful ways. Practicing ahead of the actual conference allows them to feel prepared and proud to share with their families.  It fosters communication skills, independence, and a strong sense of ownership over their learning — all foundational for future academic and social success. During the actual Student Led Conference, preschoolers experienced a range of emotions. Some felt nervous facing their parents, while others were visibly tired or overwhelmed by the attention.  A few needed gentle support to stay engaged. On the other hand, many confidently shared their work, explained clas...

Field Trip

FIELD TRIP Children who experience a holistic development during their younger school years grow up to become global citizens.  Taking the students out of the classroom  is important because it provides a balance between indoor and outdoor activities. It prepares them for what it is like in the real world.  As part of our unit on How The World Works which focuses on the science of living things, the preschoolers went out on a field trip to Rokkosan Pasture. In here, the students were immersed and had access to a different environment,  the farm habitat together with the animals who live there.  They experienced interactive learning by feeding and getting up close with these friendly and hungry goats. They observed how the animals shared space and played inside their homes. They were able to make connections on how they, as preschoolers socially interact with one another inside the classroom.   The parents who joined the trip also became the teachers a...
