Group culture has a large impact on the behavior, attitudes, and happiness of every member of a group.
People who fit into the culture often feel right, belongingness and being included.
In connection to Numeracy, the preschoolers sat together and worked with a partner analyzing and interpreting the data.
They looked at the responses from the suvey and made a tally marks to get the overall responses of the Lower and Upper Primary students.
What is the purpose of this survey?
They will be able to identify the different cultures of the students at DSKI.
They will be able to identify the celebration that most of the DSKI students celebrate.
The different nationalities of the students at DSKI.
Next week, we will summarize all the information we have gathered and will move to creating a chart to represent the data collection through a pictograph and a bar graph.
The students also delved deeper into their sense of self.
Through the game 'Four corners" (Yes. No. Maybe. I don't know.) they were given situations and they moved to the corner of their response.
Some of the statements were:
- Family is important for me.
- Hanami should be celebrated.
- Food is not important during celebrations.
- We should always have cakes, balloons and gifts on birthdays.
- People with long hair is better looking than short hair.
- Being honest is not always important
- We should allow children to work and earn money to help the family.
- Education is not important
- We should go on vacation to new places.
- We should avoid and not talk to strangers.
They were encouraged to think deeply and share their reasons by talking to the people in their group and shared also share their resaons to the rest of the students. They can agree or disagree with each other but the end point is to consider and respect their similarities and differences as a person.
