Let's Tune In

Let's Tune In!

It was a busy but productive week for these little 'scientists'.
It didn't take them a long time to delve in instantly with the new unit on 'How the world works'.

To prepare them to new inquiries, it is important for us to unlock words that will be used throughout the unit.

Living and nonliving things

The students did a sorting activity and it took a lot of discussions - agreeing and disagreeing. Finally, we all decided to simply group the pictures into two: living and nonliving things.

The preschoolers described the characteristics of living things:
.. they grow
.. they need food and water
.. breathe
.. they can feel
.. need to rest or sleep
.. they can move

Brain Frame: Telling Frame

Together with their partner, they created a visual tool that helped them organize their thinking. Through this exercise they were able to form connections from the topic to other ideas and concepts.

They started practicing their communication skills as they work collaboratively.

This was a very powerful activity that showed how the preschoolers have developed into becoming independent learners and thinkers.

Book Walk

We made a short trip to the library and collected unit related book for our classroom library.
They did a book walk together by sharing their thoughts about what they see or read on the pages in the book.

Asking questions to each other, making predictions and creating connections are important skills they are going develop through this activity.

This also lead the preschoolers to 'asking questions or wonderings'.

Their wonderings are so powerful that we are all getting excited more about this wonderful unit on how the world works!

Enjoy some of our Culture Week Photos!!

Night of the Student Led Conference

Preschoolers practice for their upcoming Student Led Conference (SLC) by engaging in mock sessions with peers and teachers. These practices help the students build confidence as they learn to talk about their artwork, classroom routines, and personal growth.  Using the checklist prompted by visuals like portfolios and photo displays, preschoolers explain their learning journey in simple, meaningful ways. Practicing ahead of the actual conference allows them to feel prepared and proud to share with their families.  It fosters communication skills, independence, and a strong sense of ownership over their learning — all foundational for future academic and social success. During the actual Student Led Conference, preschoolers experienced a range of emotions. Some felt nervous facing their parents, while others were visibly tired or overwhelmed by the attention.  A few needed gentle support to stay engaged. On the other hand, many confidently shared their work, explained clas...

Summer

Have an amazing summer break to all!

A Day with Nature

From the moment we arrived at Rokkosan Pasteur, excitement was in the air.   The weather was perfect, the animals were curious, and of course the preschoolers couldn’t wait to explore! The highlight of the day? Meeting the  kids —not the classmates, but the adorable baby goats! The students were able to  feed, pet, and even cuddle the goats, horses, sheep . They were gentle and playful. Some preschoolers were a bit hesitant at first, but by the end of the visit, everyone was laughing and eagerly reaching out to connect with the animals. But this trip was about more than just the fun experience. The goal is to extend their learning about  animal care, natural habitat, and the effect of human to other iving things.  These experiences and observing how animals interact in a natural environment were learning in its most genuine form—engaging, memorable, and will have a long-lasting impact on their lives.    As the day came to an end, tired but happy p...
