I am Me

Character
is who you are,
when nobody else is looking...

Preschool unpacked further what CHARACTER is.

Outside traits are also known as the physical traits, which are seen or visible.
It also refers to how a person looks like.

Inside Traits cannot be seen unless it is expressed from one's thoughts, actions, words, and feelings.

Each person has an outside and inside traits which define who they are.

Guess who we are!

The preschools looked at a mirror and studied their facial features. They looked at the color of their hair and eyes, shape of their nose and lips, their heights, lengths of the hair, and other physical traits.

They drew a self-portrait and wrote down clues to help others guess who they are.

Parents, please feel free to come and try to guess the self-portrait too!

Our Trees

After watching Build our Tree, we reflected on our own fruits and branches.
The students wrote their own but also gathered information from other students and teachers in class about what they think their fruits (positive character traits) and branches (traits that need to be improved) are.

This activity encourages them to be open-minded and take feedback to help them improve their character.

Here are some completed preschool trees with fruits and branches.

NUMERACY

In connection to UOI, the preschools learned statistics: Gathering Data (Survey). They asked other students, teachers and staff about questions that they were curious to know.

Some questions were:

What is your favorite food?
onigiri, fruits, vegetables, chicken

What's your favorite sport?
soccer, badminton, basketball

What is your favorite color?
purple, red, orange, green, blue, black

How old are you?
5+, 10+, 20+, 30+, 40+

After they have gathered data, counted the tally marks, and interpreted it according to:  the most and least favorite.

They will continue to work on presenting the collected data into a Bar Graph.

This is important so that preschool will be able to understand, classify, and sort the information collected, which is necessary for future research.

Next week, we will continue on collecting our wonderings for our Wonder Wall!

Night of the Student Led Conference

Preschoolers practice for their upcoming Student Led Conference (SLC) by engaging in mock sessions with peers and teachers. These practices help the students build confidence as they learn to talk about their artwork, classroom routines, and personal growth.  Using the checklist prompted by visuals like portfolios and photo displays, preschoolers explain their learning journey in simple, meaningful ways. Practicing ahead of the actual conference allows them to feel prepared and proud to share with their families.  It fosters communication skills, independence, and a strong sense of ownership over their learning — all foundational for future academic and social success. During the actual Student Led Conference, preschoolers experienced a range of emotions. Some felt nervous facing their parents, while others were visibly tired or overwhelmed by the attention.  A few needed gentle support to stay engaged. On the other hand, many confidently shared their work, explained clas...

Summer

Have an amazing summer break to all!

A Day with Nature

From the moment we arrived at Rokkosan Pasteur, excitement was in the air.   The weather was perfect, the animals were curious, and of course the preschoolers couldn’t wait to explore! The highlight of the day? Meeting the  kids —not the classmates, but the adorable baby goats! The students were able to  feed, pet, and even cuddle the goats, horses, sheep . They were gentle and playful. Some preschoolers were a bit hesitant at first, but by the end of the visit, everyone was laughing and eagerly reaching out to connect with the animals. But this trip was about more than just the fun experience. The goal is to extend their learning about  animal care, natural habitat, and the effect of human to other iving things.  These experiences and observing how animals interact in a natural environment were learning in its most genuine form—engaging, memorable, and will have a long-lasting impact on their lives.    As the day came to an end, tired but happy p...
