Perky Preschool 2022 - 2023

It has been an exciting week with these 18 energetic and dynamic preschoolers!

Our Wonder Wall has been readied to be filled with their wonderings about the Transdisciplinary Theme on How We Organize Ourselves

Everyone wondered what UOI meant, so we talked about it and this sparked the motivation and interest of the preschoolers.

'Roles and responsibilities allow organizations to run smoothly'

The lines of inquiries focused on various communities we belong to, different jobs have responsibilities their own preferred job in the classroom.

Tuning In started by first identifying one of the Approaches to Learning (ATLs) self-management focusing on organizational skills.

Since one of our main focus in the class for the first week of school is being organized and taking care of their belongings, we looked at the word 'organize'.

To further understand the concept, the preschool played and organized themselves into many different groups according to....

...  shoe color

... shirt color
... hair color
... hair length
... height

They came up with the statements to describe the word.

In Numeracy, we started counting and ordering numbers 1-10. They showed the value by writing the numeral and the number of ones.

Learning the difference between estimation and counting will strengthen their  number sense. This will enable them to develop flexible thinking and intuition about numbers needed to develop deep understanding of different math concepts.

Here are some photos of the Preschoolers first week in school!

Night of the Student Led Conference

Preschoolers practice for their upcoming Student Led Conference (SLC) by engaging in mock sessions with peers and teachers. These practices help the students build confidence as they learn to talk about their artwork, classroom routines, and personal growth.  Using the checklist prompted by visuals like portfolios and photo displays, preschoolers explain their learning journey in simple, meaningful ways. Practicing ahead of the actual conference allows them to feel prepared and proud to share with their families.  It fosters communication skills, independence, and a strong sense of ownership over their learning — all foundational for future academic and social success. During the actual Student Led Conference, preschoolers experienced a range of emotions. Some felt nervous facing their parents, while others were visibly tired or overwhelmed by the attention.  A few needed gentle support to stay engaged. On the other hand, many confidently shared their work, explained clas...

Field Trip

FIELD TRIP Children who experience a holistic development during their younger school years grow up to become global citizens.  Taking the students out of the classroom  is important because it provides a balance between indoor and outdoor activities. It prepares them for what it is like in the real world.  As part of our unit on How The World Works which focuses on the science of living things, the preschoolers went out on a field trip to Rokkosan Pasture. In here, the students were immersed and had access to a different environment,  the farm habitat together with the animals who live there.  They experienced interactive learning by feeding and getting up close with these friendly and hungry goats. They observed how the animals shared space and played inside their homes. They were able to make connections on how they, as preschoolers socially interact with one another inside the classroom.   The parents who joined the trip also became the teachers a...
