Here comes the sun!

Here comes the sun,
and I say,
It's all right...

sun, sun, sun, here we come!

What is the best way to start Tuning In for our unit?
Well,  none other than going out for a walk to enjoy and see the lovely sakura trees!!

We had our beautiful morning walk at Rokko Island and we were greeted by these blossoming sakura flowers around us.

We played our favorite 'I spy' game focusing on the different things we saw, heard and felt during our walk.

While walking, passers-by couldn't help but laugh as they hear the contagious laughter of the Preschooler's as we explored the beautiful surroundings around our school.

Back in school, we talked about the different things we saw during our morning walk. They worked with their group and together they wrote/drew the things they have seen.

Then, as a class we have sorted the groups into Living and Non Living Things.

They have defined living things as:
.. things that grow
.. they move
.. they need air
.. they need water
.. they need food
.. they think
.. they have emotions
.. they multiply to become many
.. they die

Non living things as:
.. things made by people
.. they don't need air, water or food
.. people make them move
.. they need gas, petrol, or battery

They  all agreed that sun is important to everyone's life.
We cannot survive without it.

The sun made the sakura trees produce beautiful flowers!
In the class, they also enjoyed painting a sakura tree using pointillism style.

Beautiful artworks!

Of course, our walk wouldn't be complete without the preschoolers photo under the bright blue sky and a beautiful sakura tree!

Night of the Student Led Conference

Preschoolers practice for their upcoming Student Led Conference (SLC) by engaging in mock sessions with peers and teachers. These practices help the students build confidence as they learn to talk about their artwork, classroom routines, and personal growth.  Using the checklist prompted by visuals like portfolios and photo displays, preschoolers explain their learning journey in simple, meaningful ways. Practicing ahead of the actual conference allows them to feel prepared and proud to share with their families.  It fosters communication skills, independence, and a strong sense of ownership over their learning — all foundational for future academic and social success. During the actual Student Led Conference, preschoolers experienced a range of emotions. Some felt nervous facing their parents, while others were visibly tired or overwhelmed by the attention.  A few needed gentle support to stay engaged. On the other hand, many confidently shared their work, explained clas...

Summer

Have an amazing summer break to all!

A Day with Nature

From the moment we arrived at Rokkosan Pasteur, excitement was in the air.   The weather was perfect, the animals were curious, and of course the preschoolers couldn’t wait to explore! The highlight of the day? Meeting the  kids —not the classmates, but the adorable baby goats! The students were able to  feed, pet, and even cuddle the goats, horses, sheep . They were gentle and playful. Some preschoolers were a bit hesitant at first, but by the end of the visit, everyone was laughing and eagerly reaching out to connect with the animals. But this trip was about more than just the fun experience. The goal is to extend their learning about  animal care, natural habitat, and the effect of human to other iving things.  These experiences and observing how animals interact in a natural environment were learning in its most genuine form—engaging, memorable, and will have a long-lasting impact on their lives.    As the day came to an end, tired but happy p...
