PICTURE SORT

The Preschoolers were given a task to sort the different animals.
There have been several versions of the sorting which sparked a very meaningful conversation between the students.

They sorted it according to colors, size, movements, the place they live....
They kept on moving the animals around and explained the reasons.

Their conversation was a beautiful revelation of how the Preschoolers have developed as good communicators!

They agreed and disagreed with one another.
They took turns, asked and answered questions.
It was beautiful!

UNIT BOOKS

'As part of my curiosity - sparking tools, I often collect books related to our unit and have a small area for our unit books in the classroom.
The books are used throughout the unit.'

- Ms. Faye -

This week, they did  a 'Book Walk' and spent time exploring different Unit Books in the class.

They also used the Visible Thinking Routing 'See, Think and Wonder' as prompt for their own discussion.

We revisited the sort once again  and  finally they all agreed and came up with the following to groups:
1. Amphibians
2. Birds
3. Fish
4. Insects
5. Mammals
6. Reptiles

They then worked with a small group to write down information they know about the animal group assigned to them.

They confidently shared their final work to the class and answered questions or clarifications from the other students.

Next week, they will start their experiment and inquire more about plants!

Night of the Student Led Conference

Preschoolers practice for their upcoming Student Led Conference (SLC) by engaging in mock sessions with peers and teachers. These practices help the students build confidence as they learn to talk about their artwork, classroom routines, and personal growth.  Using the checklist prompted by visuals like portfolios and photo displays, preschoolers explain their learning journey in simple, meaningful ways. Practicing ahead of the actual conference allows them to feel prepared and proud to share with their families.  It fosters communication skills, independence, and a strong sense of ownership over their learning — all foundational for future academic and social success. During the actual Student Led Conference, preschoolers experienced a range of emotions. Some felt nervous facing their parents, while others were visibly tired or overwhelmed by the attention.  A few needed gentle support to stay engaged. On the other hand, many confidently shared their work, explained clas...

Meet the Animals

Students have been actively engaged in preparing for our upcoming Animal Exhibit, showcasing their learning through research, creativity, and collaboration. Each student selected an animal of interest, explored its habitat, diet, and unique adaptations, and created a visual display to share their findings. This week the preschoolers worked in teams to group animals according to their natural habitats—such as grassland, fresh water, polar region, ocean, and forest.  Together, they collaborated to research the features and designed a small-scale habitat that reflect the unique features of each ecosystem. This group project fostered teamwork, problem-solving, and creativity as students and teachers combined their knowledge and ideas to create cohesive, informative, and visually engaging designs.  The final displays beautifully showcase both the diversity of animal life and the power of collaboration. As part of the preparation, preschoolers will practice presentation skills and t...
