The Expert in Anything was Once a Beginner

UNIT OF INQUIRY
SORTING OUT

This week, the preschoolers started their journey on becoming experts on their chosen community helper.

After weeks of FINDING OUT from different resources and learning about the community and the people in the community, they are now using these knowledge to write an Informative Book.

They have identified what a writer and illustrator's jobs are.
They were very fortunate that Jess (Mia's mom) came and shared with them her roles and responsibilities as a writer.

They are now inspired and are ready to take on the role of a writer and an illustrator.

Also, Joshua Lim (Isaac's dad) came and shared with the Preschoolers his job, roles and responsibilities as a Project Manager for Caterpillar Inc. The company that manufactures, markets and sells machinery and engines.

They asked a lot of good questions and learned that people from different organisations need to help and work together to make things run smoothly.

NUMERACY STATIONS
The preschoolers continue to develop their number sense, conceptual understanding and fluency in addition and subtraction.

They used a number line as a visual tool to find the sum and difference.

They also continue to develop their accuracy and fluency in counting and ordering numbers from least to greatest and vice versa.

Preschoolers love working with everyone!
Paired or group works help them become more principled, thinkers and caring towards the needs and differences of each other.

Night of the Student Led Conference

Preschoolers practice for their upcoming Student Led Conference (SLC) by engaging in mock sessions with peers and teachers. These practices help the students build confidence as they learn to talk about their artwork, classroom routines, and personal growth.  Using the checklist prompted by visuals like portfolios and photo displays, preschoolers explain their learning journey in simple, meaningful ways. Practicing ahead of the actual conference allows them to feel prepared and proud to share with their families.  It fosters communication skills, independence, and a strong sense of ownership over their learning — all foundational for future academic and social success. During the actual Student Led Conference, preschoolers experienced a range of emotions. Some felt nervous facing their parents, while others were visibly tired or overwhelmed by the attention.  A few needed gentle support to stay engaged. On the other hand, many confidently shared their work, explained clas...

A Day with Nature

From the moment we arrived at Rokkosan Pasteur, excitement was in the air.   The weather was perfect, the animals were curious, and of course the preschoolers couldn’t wait to explore! The highlight of the day? Meeting the  kids —not the classmates, but the adorable baby goats! The students were able to  feed, pet, and even cuddle the goats, horses, sheep . They were gentle and playful. Some preschoolers were a bit hesitant at first, but by the end of the visit, everyone was laughing and eagerly reaching out to connect with the animals. But this trip was about more than just the fun experience. The goal is to extend their learning about  animal care, natural habitat, and the effect of human to other iving things.  These experiences and observing how animals interact in a natural environment were learning in its most genuine form—engaging, memorable, and will have a long-lasting impact on their lives.    As the day came to an end, tired but happy p...
