UNIT 2 Who we are

Who we are

When children are self-aware, they understand themselves and recognise their own strengths and challenges. It makes it easier for them to build self-confidence, express themselves and speak up their own needs and wants. They understand that they may be different from other children, but that is okay - that makes them unique and special.

For our second unit, Preschoolers will be looking at the Transdisciplinary Theme: Who we are.

As we progress with the unit, the students will anchor their inquiry on the Central Idea, 'Choices we make define and build our character and personality. They will learn about : problem solving, acceptable and unacceptable choices and cause and effect. Through these Lines of Inquiry, preschoolers will also understand the Concepts of connection and causation that will guide them as they develop to become students who are knowledgeable, balanced and reflective. Throughout the unit, they are expected to reach their understanding of the concepts as they develop their Thinking Skills and Social Skills.

UOI: TUNING IN
We have started with our Tuning In activity and the Preschoolers brainstormed ideas about our unit on 'Who we are".

Preschool will also be hosting an Assembly this November, watch out for our video!

Have a good weekend!

Night of the Student Led Conference

Preschoolers practice for their upcoming Student Led Conference (SLC) by engaging in mock sessions with peers and teachers. These practices help the students build confidence as they learn to talk about their artwork, classroom routines, and personal growth.  Using the checklist prompted by visuals like portfolios and photo displays, preschoolers explain their learning journey in simple, meaningful ways. Practicing ahead of the actual conference allows them to feel prepared and proud to share with their families.  It fosters communication skills, independence, and a strong sense of ownership over their learning — all foundational for future academic and social success. During the actual Student Led Conference, preschoolers experienced a range of emotions. Some felt nervous facing their parents, while others were visibly tired or overwhelmed by the attention.  A few needed gentle support to stay engaged. On the other hand, many confidently shared their work, explained clas...

Field Trip

FIELD TRIP Children who experience a holistic development during their younger school years grow up to become global citizens.  Taking the students out of the classroom  is important because it provides a balance between indoor and outdoor activities. It prepares them for what it is like in the real world.  As part of our unit on How The World Works which focuses on the science of living things, the preschoolers went out on a field trip to Rokkosan Pasture. In here, the students were immersed and had access to a different environment,  the farm habitat together with the animals who live there.  They experienced interactive learning by feeding and getting up close with these friendly and hungry goats. They observed how the animals shared space and played inside their homes. They were able to make connections on how they, as preschoolers socially interact with one another inside the classroom.   The parents who joined the trip also became the teachers a...
