PRESCHOOLERS collaborate

UOI AND MATH INTEGRATION

Collaboration is when people work together, cooperate, share ideas, knowledge and skills to help each other learn and finish a task.

This week, preschoolers did a lot of activities wherein they collaborated, either with a partner or a group.
Collaboration helps them develop social skills as they learn to problem solve and make good decisions for the task to
be successful.

Through Rotation math tasks the preschoolers practiced and developed different skills in counting, number recognition, number bonds, and addition.

Worked on counting and number recognition to 10s

One to one correspondence to 20s

Number Bonds

They also played Addition Snakes and Ladders too!

As part of our Tuning In, Perky Preschoolers also came up with their own definition of the words Choices, Personality and Character for our unit.

FIELD TRIP TO TOHO
They were given an opportunity to decide what to eat for lunch. They were given 500¥ to buy their choice of food. See some of the food they bought.

We tallied and made a summary of Perky Preschoolers Food Choices:

Sugar: 16
Fruits: 1

Next week, Preschoolers will be Finding Out more about different food groups and healthy choices in food.

Plate Decorating

Also, the Perky Preschoolers with the help of Maelle's mom, Keiko, designed these beautiful plates. Thank you Keiko and to the PTA for this fun activity!

Night of the Student Led Conference

Preschoolers practice for their upcoming Student Led Conference (SLC) by engaging in mock sessions with peers and teachers. These practices help the students build confidence as they learn to talk about their artwork, classroom routines, and personal growth.  Using the checklist prompted by visuals like portfolios and photo displays, preschoolers explain their learning journey in simple, meaningful ways. Practicing ahead of the actual conference allows them to feel prepared and proud to share with their families.  It fosters communication skills, independence, and a strong sense of ownership over their learning — all foundational for future academic and social success. During the actual Student Led Conference, preschoolers experienced a range of emotions. Some felt nervous facing their parents, while others were visibly tired or overwhelmed by the attention.  A few needed gentle support to stay engaged. On the other hand, many confidently shared their work, explained clas...

Summer

Have an amazing summer break to all!

A Day with Nature

From the moment we arrived at Rokkosan Pasteur, excitement was in the air.   The weather was perfect, the animals were curious, and of course the preschoolers couldn’t wait to explore! The highlight of the day? Meeting the  kids —not the classmates, but the adorable baby goats! The students were able to  feed, pet, and even cuddle the goats, horses, sheep . They were gentle and playful. Some preschoolers were a bit hesitant at first, but by the end of the visit, everyone was laughing and eagerly reaching out to connect with the animals. But this trip was about more than just the fun experience. The goal is to extend their learning about  animal care, natural habitat, and the effect of human to other iving things.  These experiences and observing how animals interact in a natural environment were learning in its most genuine form—engaging, memorable, and will have a long-lasting impact on their lives.    As the day came to an end, tired but happy p...
